With the trend of ‘going it alone’ continuing to grow, the UK’s number one singles travel company expands across the pond

The UK-based tour operator, Solos Holidays, is delighted to announce the launch of Solos Vacations for single travelers in the USA.

Voted by the consumers as the UK’s best singles holiday company (through The British Travel Awards) for the last four years, and with over 30 years of experience providing the widest choice of vacations for adult single travelers of all ages, Solos Holidays is excited to bring its expertise to North America for the first time with Solos Vacations.

Solo travel is a growing trend in the USA, with Google searches for ‘solo travel’ up almost a third last year compared with 2013. Adult singles now outnumber married people in North America too, with Bureau of Labor Statistics (published in August 2014) reporting 50.2% of American adults as single, compared to 22% in 1950.

One of the growing solo travel age groups is the older adult population, with a recent AARP survey (published in December 2014) finding that 37% of adults aged 45 and older took a trip alone in the past two years and more than 80% planned to take another solo trip in the next year.

All of Solos Vacations’ group trips have a dedicated tour leader and are available to anyone traveling alone – they may be single, unable to travel at the same time as their partner, or simply have different interests to their friends or partner.

Every guest is guaranteed their own room or can choose to share a twin room with a same-sex group member for a reduced price, with the trips striking the right balance between time spent mixing with others and time spent alone.

Managing Director of Solos Holidays and Solos Vacations, Andrew Williams, says: “Solos was formed in the UK in 1982 specifically to meet the needs of the single traveler – we are the first holiday company with this specific focus. Since then, we’ve stayed true to our roots, with our expertise recognized by an ever-growing and loyal community of customers. We’re excited to launch Solos Vacations and provide the same level of care, attention and carefully-planned tour itineraries to U.S. single travelers too.”
