The Kid’s Style Bible for 2014

Buying clothes for kids can be so much fun for parents, although the kids don’t appreciate it as much. They’d rather go toy shopping, as we all well know. However, kids grow quickly which means that clothes shopping for them is a must. You obviously want your child to be comfortable, while looking stylish at the same time – they are a reflection of you, after all. The following trends are the biggest trends for kids in 2014. Dress your child in them to have the most trendy kid on the block:

Animal Print

Animal print is a huge trend for kids this year, but I don’t just mean leopard dots and zebra stripes. I mean actual animals printed on the clothing, whether that’s cats, dogs, rabbits, mice – you name it, you can’t go wrong! The animal doesn’t have to be a well known character like Peppa Pig either, so don’t worry; you don’t have to splash out on a load of Peppa merchandise for your child to wear this trend.

Stripes

Stripes, whether vertical or horizontal, look great on kid’s clothes and can be paired with many other patterns and styles to create an adorable outfit. In some cases, you can even create a kind of ‘nautical’ vibe with stripes.

Mix Funky Textures and Patterns

Mixing different textures and patterns adds interest to an outfit, and this tip works for everybody; not just kids! You wouldn’t believe it, but orange zebra print can look great with grey leopard print. You need to try to find a balance between the colours and patterns for it to work. The colours should be similar in tone, and the patterns should be kind of related for the look to work well. Shop Fox and Finch kids clothing for different patterns and textures.

Bright Colours

Bright colours always look great on kids, so go as bright as possible to make them stand out. Bear in mind that you don’t want their eyes to hurt, so I wouldn’t do it in a top-to-toe kind of way. Simply dress them in one bright item and then tone the rest of the outfit down.

Pastel Colours

Pastel colours always look cute on kids too; like different flavours of ice cream! You can’t go wrong with lemon yellow, lovely lilac, baby pink, powder blue, and mint green. You could even dress them in different shades of one colour head to toe to make a statement – you have to see it to believe that it works!

Matching Pieces

Matching pieces are being worn by just about everybody, so your kids should be no exception. A matching jeans and jacket combo would look great, as would a matching t-shirt and skirt/bottoms. I do think this look goes better with little girls, but you could try it on your son if you can find a nice enough pattern.

Your child will look great in any one of these trends – I bet their friend’s mom’s will ask you where you got the outfit inspiration from!
