Carrington Farms Coconut Cooking Oil is the latest product I’ve heard of that is joining the coconut oil trend. Carrington Co. LLC is a natural and organic food company founded in 1999 providing tea, flax, chia, hemp, coconut oil, quinoa and other natural food products to the health conscious consumer in the supermarket/natural food, club and mass market trades.
I have been wanting to try coconut oil in the preparation of the foods my family enjoys as a healthier alternative to other cooking oils, and I am so glad to finally have had the chance to do so with Carrington Farms flavor-infused liquid coconut cooking oils. These oils are easily digestible, non-hydrogenated and free of harmful saturated and trans fatty acids (depending on the flavor you choose). They are hexane-free, solvent free and packaged in BPA free bottles. They are a healthy alternative to Canola, Soybean, Vegetable and olive oil as well as butter. All of their coconut oils are certified organic and non-GMO and are processed in a peanut-free and tree nut-free facility. More information about the health benefits can be found on the company’s website (link at end of post).
They are naturally rich in Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs), containing over four times more MCTs than regular coconut oil. High in Lauric, Caprylic and Capric acid, they are also rapidly metabolized and excellent for a healthy and active lifestyle.
I used the garlic flavored version to caramelize some onions and mushrooms as a side dish for dinner one evening in place of the butter that I normally use. It was delicious! I will admit, I was a little hesitant to try it simply because my husband likes the way I normally make this dish. I was worried he’d take one bite and ask me what on earth I did to his dinner. Well, he did ask what I did differently but said that he thought it tasted really good. The garlic-flavor was easily detected but was not over-powering.
I used the sriracha flavored oil in a vinaigrette that I poured over some pasta for extra flavor. My daughter, who does not normally like foods with much spice to them, even liked it. Score! It was also a lovely flavor in some chicken stir fry I served for dinner last night. I am really liking these cooking oils and can’t wait to try them in some more foods.
Carrington Farms products are carried in many Wal Mart, Costco, Shaws, Albertsons, ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Shop & Save, Shoppers, Publix, Giant, HEB, Meijer, Whole Foods, Giant Eagle, Hy Vee, Wegmens, Schnuks, and Sprouts stores nationwide.
