How To Wear Compression Socks

Compression socks are the new big thing, and if you have no idea what I’m talking about then you’re going to want to stay here and read. VIM&VIGR have created a line of fashionable and advanced leg wear that looks cute and increases the circulation of blood in your legs, making you more energized. They reduce spider and varicose veins, lessen swelling, and stop aches and heaviness. Overall, these socks look fabulous and recover your muscles after a long, busy day!

When I first received my pair of brown and red wool compression socks, I thought they were adorable and had no idea what to wear with them. I’m also in preseason, and my calves are always sore after soccer practice, so I knew they’d be a great addition to my wardrobe… but the question was how? I then searched my closet to create three fun outfits, and then had a blast modeling them for you guys.

Outfit 1: First Day of School/Awkward Family Gatherings

Yes, that is a turtle neck. For the first outfit, I decided to match the red lines in the socks to a red turtle neck shirt. I tucked the shirt into a black circle skirt, and paired it with a pair of bow heels. This reminded me of something I’d wear to school, or an awkward family gathering where I don’t remember everyone’s name but they somehow know me. These socks are also really handy to wear with heels because they alleviate pain (and I don’t wear heels enough to be numb to them yet so woohoo)!

Outfit 2: Sporty/Hanging Out With Friends

This outfit reminded me of something sporty, or that I’d wear if I was just hanging out with friends…going for a walk…hiking…and so on. For this one, I took an oversized grey shirt and tucked it into ripped high waisted shorts. I then added a pair of red Converse, and voila, the outfit was created. The compression socks come in handy for this outfit because hiking/walking actually takes a toll on your calves, so if you’re starting to feel tight or sore, the compression socks can help your muscles.

Outfit 3: Going Out Compression Sock Style

Whoever said compression socks couldn’t be daring didn’t pair it with a tight black top and combat boots. For this outfit, I wanted to style something that would be more bold… like if you’re going to a party and are going to be dancing. I chose a black tank top, grey studded jacket, black shorts, and combat boots to complete this look. The compression socks would come in handy because dancing takes a toll on your feet and calves, so if you’re feeling tired, they’ll help you feel more energized. :)

Overall, I’m obsessed with my new compression socks. VIM&VIGR did an excellent job creating stylish socks that improve leg health. They have a compression strength of 15-20 mmHg (millimeter per mercury), and are also listed with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).  The compression is tightest around the ankle, and increases circulation throughout the leg. There is also a flexible toe pocket to give you more comfort. If you’re interested in learning more, you can visit these sites:
