Do you have kids that take forever to get ready in the mornings? Do they drag their feet and do 100 unnecessary things? No matter the age most kids are extremely slow in the mornings when they need to be fast. Here are a few tips to make the mornings smoother and your kids quicker.
When waking up in the morning most people don’t instantly start thinking clearly and moving quickly. Most people need an adjustment period in the mornings where they can wipe all of the crusty out of their eyes, stretch their legs, and wake up a little bit. This is especially true for children. Children are growing and their sleep is way more productive than an adults. With that saying it is harder for them to wake up. To help with this give you child or children a few extra minutes in the morning to lie in bed and wake up. Don’t expect them to get up the very first time you go in there. If this means starting to wake them up 10 minutes earlier then do it. It is important for your child and will ultimately determine their attitude and speed for the rest of the morning.
Have you ever seen those daily hanging clothes organizers for the closet? If your children do not have one of these they need one! These are extremely cheap and can be bought almost anywhere. At the beginning of the week you and your child can stand in the closet and pick out their outfits for the entire week. This way when they get up in the morning they can go straight to the cubby for the day and know exactly what to wear. This will prevent you from having to send you child back to their room six times because you don’t approve of what they are wearing or having to go get them dressed yourself. This will help you child feel more independent and make getting dressed a lot quicker.
Extra 15 minutes
Giving your self an extra 15 minutes does not mean waking up 15 minutes earlier, it means if you know you absolutely need to leave by 7:30 shoot to leave by 7:15. This extra 15 minutes I promise you will prevent you from being late way more often. If your child is old enough to tell time and keep up with it you can tell them they have to be ready by your new time. This will help them be more responsible and have a goal to meet. This extra 15 minutes will help when those unavoidable last minute things come up. With kids last minute things are inevitable so planning for them is extremely important.
Mornings with children are crazy and mostly hectic. That is why it is so important to find ways to make it easier and more efficient. I don’t know a morning where I don’t usually forget to turn something off, grab something, or do something. Setting the house alarm is often something that gets left behind when I have 100 things in my hands and totally forget. I found a company called Smith Monitoring that can fix that problem. Smith Monitoring specializes in Rockwall home security and Schertz home security. They offer a feature called a radius reminder where if I leave my home and pass through the radius I put around my home and did not set the alarm it will send a reminder to my phone. That way I can set the alarm from my phone and do not have to return back to the house.
