How to Care for Bruises

Have you ever gotten a bruise and you weren’t sure what to do? I’ve stared at plenty of bruises, but I cannot say I’ve ever been educated on what to do about them. Now that I’m getting older and bruising more, I felt like it was time I learn how to care for bruises.

Rest the area

If you bruise an area on your body, give it some time to heal. Let’s say you bruise your ankle, sit down and give your body time to catch up. You really do want to give your body time to heal, so take this advice seriously.

Use ice to reduce swelling

One thing I need to do more often is ice the bruise. Icing the bruise will help to reduce the overall swelling and even help with the pain. So, the next time you are bruised, remember that ice will help you. If you don’t have ice, use a cold pack wrapped in a towel or a bag of frozen veggies.

Elevate the bruised area

This may sound crazy, but as I mentioned before, your bruised area needs to be elevated. This applies to bruised areas like ankles, arms, legs, and anything else that can be elevated. However, elevating the bruised area is another way to take care.

Wrap the bruised area

If you have a large area that is bruised, spend some time wrapping it in a bandage. Wrapping the bruise can help reduce the amount of swelling you’re experiencing in the bruised area. You don’t need to keep it wrapped for an extended period of time, but for a couple of hours is a really good idea.

Stock up on PROcure Bruise Remedy Gel

One of my favorite products ever is called PROcure Bruise Remedy Gel. This is the perfect item to have on hand whenever you have a bruise. Whenever you’re bruised, the PROcure Bruise Remedy Gel helps to reduce the skin discoloration from bruising or spider veins. It’s made with high-quality ingredients. I love that it’s made with botanically rich formula concentrated with Arnica Montana and MSM in a convenient portable size.

There is even a no touch applicator that helps to ease the gel out onto the bruise, so no additional pressure is added. This is a must have for your in-home medicine cabinet or even for a first-aid kit. Keep in mind that one reason I love this PROcure Bruise Remedy Gel is that it is fragrance-free and does not feel greasy on the skin. Wondering about the ingredients?

  • Arnica Montana – Homeopathic anti-inflammatory with anti-bacterial properties. Recommended by plastic surgeons and athletes to minimize bruising and swelling.
  • MSM Nutrient – Naturally occurring sulfur compound necessary for tissue health. Proven to relieve pain, reduce swelling and aid natural healing.

I didn't even know bruise creams were a thing! Then again thanks to my complexion I don't bruise easily. Well, actually I probably do, I just can't see it. I know quite a few friends who could benefit from this product though. I shall share!
