If Snowflakes Tasted Like Fruitcake
I love a good rhyming kids book, almost as much as my son does. These types of books really seem to appeal to younger children. Today I want to tell you about a cute holiday themed rhyming book called, If Snowflakes Tasted Like Fruitcake.
“If snowflakes tasted like sugar plums….they’d be dancing in my head….if snowflakes tasted like oatmeal….they’d get me out of bed.”
The rhymes in this book are adorable, and the illustrations are just as precious! If Snowflakes Tasted Like Fruitcake is a hardcover book perfect for young children and up to about third grade.
The Nutcracker is a holiday must have classic. This version was adapted by Grace Maccarone, and illustrated by Célia Chauffrey. In this version, Clara and Fritz are patiently waiting for their Godfather, Drosselmeyer, to bring them gifts. When he arrives he brings so many wonderful toys but Clara is in love by a simple little Nutcracker. Felix steals her Nutcracker and breaks it, but Drosselmeyer fixes it for her. When everyone goes to bed but Clara, the tree and all the toys spring to life and the mice try to overtake Clara. Her Nutcracker springs to her defense to defeat the Mouse King. When he does, he turns into a human. They are entertained by dancers from around the world and the Sugar Plum Fairy before Clara wakes up to realize it was all a dream.
This board book is perfect for little kids and little hands. Why? First of all because of it size, and secondly because it’s a touch and feel book. Liam has always adored touch and feel books, as they are perfect sensory input for young children, or children with sensory processing disorder. My favorite page is with the fire. It shines and even makes a crackling noise like a real fire! Cozy Christmas features the characters from Sago Mini, and hey are absolutely precious!
