How to Help Kids Keep Track of Their Belongings
My kids seem to really struggle with keeping track of their belongings. I wanted to share some tips on how we all can help our kids. When kids lose things, it costs us money. Here is how we can help our kids keep track of things for their sanity and ours.
Talk to them about responsibility
Kids learn responsibility they don’t inherit it. Talking to them about responsibility can help so much. Not only should you talk to them about responsibility, but you should give them responsibilities. Start with something small and work your way up! They will get it, eventually.
Repetition is key
I have noticed with my kids that they need to put their belongings in the same spot every time. Repetition really helps kids keep track of their belongings. It’s like they get in a mindset to put it where it goes and it really helps them to keep track of things.
Allow them to understand the value of something
Kids are less likely to lose stuff if they know the value of it. Teach your kids that “their stuff” costs money! Things don’t grow on trees and neither does money.
Use Name Bubbles
Something that has helped my kids keep track of their belongings is Name Bubbles! These Name Bubbles are perfect for putting on belongings of your kids. I have several kids, so it can be hard to keep track of “whose is whose.” Not anymore! We have Name Bubbles to help us keep track of stuff.
