Welcome to Vegas! If you ever come to Vegas in the winter you know it is very rare we get snow. One really nice thing is Mount Charleston is not a far ride from Vegas and you can go up there you can stay in a Lodge or Cabins and there is snow! There is also a skiing and sleigh riding.
Its so pretty in the winter. The only problem is if you have no snow tires or chains on your car and it is snowing you can not go. We tried a few weeks ago and got about half way and the cops stopped us from going all the way. It was raining on our way and snowing in the Mountain.
So a few days later we decided to try again and take a ride. Mount Charleston is only approx. 30 min from where we live. We made it all the way to the cabins and took the dogs for a walk. It was 23 degrees! Almost always guaranteed to be at least 20 degrees cooler there than Vegas.
The dogs never seen snow before and really liked it but we didn’t want them to get sick not being use to the cold weather.
Tucker really was not liking it. He just did not know what to think! On the other hand Bandit just loved walking in it and exploring what this snow was all about. (They were sporting their new little winter coats aren’t they cute?)
We left and it was starting to snow! We decided to head toward the ski area but the further up we went it starting to snow harder. I think we were up about 8000 Feet I was getting nervous because its been years since I drove in snow! Let alone drive icy roads!
This was just so beautiful , I love fresh snow!
We had the chance to see it snow really hard and experienced a white out.Once we got down to the end of the road where you turn left to go to the ski lodge or you can go right and head back to Vegas or turn around and go back up the way we just came we figured we better head home! It was raining and the roads were slippery!
And of course many people who live in Vegas are not use to driving in snow so we experienced a few drivers that was driving really slow.
The higher we went the colder it got of course. It was like 44 in Vegas when we left. The lowest temp we seen was 23 and it kept changing depending on where we drove.
It was getting darker and roads real bad so I wanted to head back as soon as I could.
We were pretty high up and no guard rails!
So this Vegas Friday I thought it would be great to share with you all some wonderful pictures we took and how wonderful it is we see snow not far from home! I hope you enjoyed all of them!
