There Are Good Reasons To Get Rid Of Unwanted Hair

Have you ever seen pictures of the Mona Lisa with a mustache painted on her? In an adolescent everything-is-funny kind of way, it’s funny, downright hilarious. It is even funnier when you can use a photo editing app to place some unsightly facial hair on someone know, and can humiliate on Facebook. Ha ha… Very entertaining, except to the target of that juvenile prank.

For millions of women around the world, unsightly facial hair is no laughing matter. it is a very real, living nightmare with social and professional consequences. Mustaches drawn on a picture can be easily removed. Body hair on actual humans is quite a bit more difficult and costly.

Hair Removal Methods

There are many ways to remove unwanted hair. Not all methods are created equally. In fact, the methods are rather unequal. There is a huge range from cheap to premium pricing, from easy to difficult, from temporary to permanent, from painless to “Oh my god! Make it stop!”

At the bottom of the expense curve would be plucking. A pair of tweezers and a lot of patience is all it takes. You might want to bring a high pain tolerance to the procedure as well. Still cheap, less time consuming, and not initially painful is shaving. However, it is not very thorough, and not at all permanent.

A popular form of hair removal is also one of the scariest. That would be waxing. Dirty Jobs did a little segment at the end of an episode where they had one of their more harry cameramen waxed and de-haired. It was painful to watch, and even more painful for the cameraman. Of course, it was intended to be funny, and not a serious look at waxing as a treatment for a serious condition.

Comedy aside, the bit did expose a particular truth about waxing: It is messy and uncomfortable. There is nothing pleasant about the prospect of having someone spread hot goop on sensitive areas of your body, putting a large piece of adhesive on that area, and ripping it off. It takes a heck of a sales pitch to get past all that.

Laser treatments are among the initially most expensive. But over time, due to the permanence of the procedure, tend to be very price competitive. While there can be mild discomfort initially, it is nothing like the unpleasantness associated with waxing.

If you happen to be in the Graceland area: the city of Elvis, there are clinics that use an advance, two-laser system that make laser hair removal relatively quick and painless, even comforting as attested by some of their clients. When hair removal matters, put down the tweezers and find the lasers.

Confidence Matters

How do you really feel about that bit of peach fuzz under your nose? Does it make you less inclined to hold your head up high and look a person in the eye? If so, that is quite understandable. So much of communication is eye contact and a confident demeanor.

Attractiveness Matters

Business Insider makes a case for why beautiful people are more successful. We can go around in circles all day about why that is, or how poorly that fact reflects on humanity. But at the end of the day, it will still be a fact. Even if you do not agree with all of the points, it mirrors how the rest of the world seems to think.

Men Do It Everyday Without Stigma

For cultural reasons, some women may feel uncomfortable seeking treatment for hair removal, as if it were just an appeal to vanity. First, there is nothing wrong with an appeal to vanity. Second, men do it everyday without stigma. It is called shaving. The fact that their hair removal procedure of choice is not very good or very permanent does not change the nature of what it is.

Ultimately, the unwanted facial hair is doing you no favors, and you don’t need a reason. You don’t have to justify it to anyone. You just have to decide to do something about it, and find the nearest clinic.
