It’s Friday and I would like to show you another great place to go in South Carolina. The South Carolina Aquarium. We went to the South Carolina Aquarium about one year ago. It was one of those what should we do kind of days! We headed down to Charleston for a day trip and decided to go to the aquarium. Opened in May of 2000 along the banks of beautiful Charleston Harbor, the 3-story, 93,000 square-foot building houses more than 10,000 fish, reptiles, birds and plants.

The South Carolina Aquarium is vary beautiful and fun place to visit whether you are an adult or a child. My family and I had so much fun at the aquarium, we enjoyed all the beautiful exhibits, feeding of the fish. The best part is that it was located in the heart of downtown Charleston, in walking distance to great restaurants and historic attractions.  Definitely a must-see for anyone traveling to Charleston.

With something for everyone in the family, marvel at sharks, otters, snakes, moray eels and more! See a rare, one of only 50 in the world, albino American alligator; also take a hike through the upstate in the Camp Carolina exhibit, get up close and touch an Atlantic stingray at the Touch Tank, and marvel at hundreds of species in the Great Ocean Tank! They also have a 4-D Immersion Theater. My kids loved the Sea Turtle Hospital.

I love the aquarium and how it focuses on South Carolina aquatic environments including birds and reptiles. There is even an enclosed outdoor area with birds and sea otters, and a touch pool for anyone that likes a hands on experience. Easy to get to and parking is just across the street. Well worth the visit and the several hours one needs to enjoy this hidden gem in Charleston.

The Baltimore Aquarium here in Maryland is so EXPENSIVE, though! I would definitely take my kids more often if it wasn't an arm and a leg to get in. It's a shame, because they're always neat places to take kids.

I now look forward to these posts Kelly. If I am ever in SC I know exactly where to go and I also know where to recommend my friends and family go. That alligator is so cool.
