1. Take up a new hobby
Widening your interests is a great way to feel more rounded. Try something you’ve never done before and perhaps never thought you’d like. It could be anything at all, from joining a running club to starting evening classes in creative writing, taking up yoga or beginning to bake. If your hobby incorporates a new and useful skill as well, such as learning a new language or learning how to knit or sew, all the better.
If you’re not into the spiritual side of meditation, don’t be put off. Meditation can quite simply be a way of shutting out all the hustle and bustle of everyday life and really and truly relaxing. No phone, no email, just you and your thoughts. Meditation can take some time to get right, so do your research and you will reap the benefits.
3. A book a day…
Okay so a book a day is a tall order (and may not keep the doctor away), but reading regularly, instead of watching the TV, is the best way to unwind and escape from everyday life. What’s more, reading expands your mind and widens your vocabulary in a way that most TV cannot. You could even incorporate tip number one by joining a book club.
4. You are what you eat
A little bit of what you fancy does you good, but ditching the unhealthy stuff for fresh, natural and healthy foods and incorporating regular exercise really will make you feel better. It’s a big happy cycle as you will feel happier about what you’re putting in your body, you’ll have more energy to exercise and you will look better as a result of the healthy diet and exercise!
5. Go easy on yourself
Sometimes we are our own worst enemies. If you are constantly beating yourself up over not being good enough, give yourself a break and focus instead on the positives. It’s a cliché but it happens to be true that you need to love yourself first and foremost to be a happy and fulfilled individual.
