Lighting
There are so many options when it comes to lighting, from your main lightshade, to desk lamps, fairy lights or LEDs. Like your carpet, you might be stuck with plain, boring walls, so get some posters to cheer things up. Buying cheap posters, then frame them, as this can be a great way of adding some sophistication. You could even frame material samples or wrapping paper you like for some really cool effects.
