Kat Kronenberg believes that if we will just listen to our kids and their dreams and encourage them. No matter how BIG or WILD they may be. When we encourage our kids and believe in their dreams it helps them have confidence in themselves. And it will help our families be a closer knit family unit.
“My hope for the new year is that families classrooms, and neighborhoods can work together toward helping one another acheive our dreams.” Kronenberg says.
My grandkids and I have read this book over and over. We love it more each time we read it. Baboon is a grumpy kinda guy and doesn’t believe in dreams. But… Just wait… Do YOU believe in dreams? I sure do! Let’s see what happens with caterpillar, tadpole and flamingo.
Caterpillar want to fly around the sky. But he is just a caterpillar that crawls and inches every where. Baboon told him he would never be able to fly. He felt so sad that he built a cocoon and hide inside.
Tadpole wanted to dance around and have fun. But as baboon pointed out HOW could he dance without feet? Poor tadpole he was so upset that he swam away. He swam so far that his tail started to shrink.
Flamingo all she wanted was to be pretty and colorful. Baboon told her that could never happen because she was just too ordinary to every be pretty or colorful. This hurt her feelings and she cried until she turned gray.
Caterpillar, tadpole and flamingo all knew they could have a dream and that it could come true. So they looked up at their star. Smiled BIG and boom-clapped! “But I can! I believe!”
And to Baboon’s surprise caterpillar came out of his cocoon with big wings and could fly, just like he dreamed. Then tadpole returned and he had feet! So he could dance and jump to the beat of baboon’s drums. Next is flamingo, when she wiped her tears she had turned the most beautiful shade of pink! She was pretty & colorful!
Baboon decided to give it a try and make a wish. He wanted to celebrate with everyone. But would anyone show up? Termite said NO. Baboon looked at his star clapped and said “But I can! I believe!” and everyone showed up for his celebration.
Termite had wished for a home just like the bees. When baboon encourage her to believe! Her dream came true also! Always believe in your kids and their dreams because they can if they believe!
