Don’t Forget About Mommy – Awesome Gifts For New Moms

It’s so exciting when someone you know is about to have a baby. The birth of a child is a wonderful happening in just about every culture around the entire world. There’s nothing quite like the hope that new life brings. It’s symbolic of a new beginning, and continuing life. All over the planet births are welcomed in different ways, and the new baby is usually showered with gifts. Many traditional gifts for children have a particular meaning, from charms to bring the newborn happiness in life, or to ward off evil spirits. These days it’s less about trying to defeat myth and folklore but spoiling the new baby. And why not? Baby clothes are so cute and adorable, and everything tiny just seems to shout BUY ME. And it’s true. The little beasties are showered with gifts practically from the moment they are born!

But really, what have they done to deserve being festooned in presents? They’ve been born; that’s what. It’s a miraculous thing, but let’s look at who put the real effort in here. Yep, that’s right. Mommy. Still, she might as well get used to taking a backseat! Once you become a parent, that’s it. You’re no longer your number one priority.

So what can you buy for a mom to be? Giving some thought to the mother to be in all this is often sadly neglected. Everyone is so excited over the imminent new arrival. And where’s the fairness in that? She’s going to have a whole lot of new responsibilities and work on her plate before long. Take the time to make she’s as prepared as she can be, with a lot of love and spoiling!

Being pregnant takes a significant toll on the body, so make sure she’s looking after herself. Gifts of spa kits, bubble baths, and some sumptuous soapy treats are always well received. They might not be the most original so don’t expect your gift to be unique! Keeping her stocked up is a good idea – new moms tend to forget to buy stuff for themselves when all their focus is on a new baby. That’s if her baby brain lets her remember why she’s even in the shop – it happens to a lot of women!

Giving the gift of help or time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give a new parent. She might be finding it difficult to keep up with basic tasks like house cleaning, especially if she has had a cesarean or a difficult birth. Get the cleaners in, or roll up your sleeves and get stuck in yourself. Offer her your services babysitting, if you are confident with young babies once the new arrival has made it’s debut into the world. If you don’t know what about cooking her a dinner and taking it over? A hot meal without having to cook is a joy with a newborn in tow.

Items for the baby that will save her money in the future is an ingenious idea. Nappies, wipes, and baby toiletries are all things that she will be using a lot of and will become a regular expense. Don’t buy formula milk in advance, though, if she chooses not to breastfeed. There are so many formulas out there it is often trial and error to find the right one to suit. You don’t want it to go to waste!

A new mom should be as treasured as the new baby is, if not more so. She’s all too easily forgotten once the baby arrives. She needs her friends more than ever, so be a good one!
