One place I remember my grandmother talking about visiting was DollyWood. I remember how she loved going there and seeing all the pictures she had. I always wanted to visit DollyWood and I recently had the chance to go.

DollyWood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is really beautiful this time of year, with all the Christmas decorations up it really puts you into the Holiday mood. Getting the chance to experience Dollywood for the first was sensational and with it being during the Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival was wonderful!

Dollywood is a wonderful place to visit with your family, there are so many things to do and see, don’t let me forget about all the thrilling rides you can get on. The shows are really nice. We were able to see Dollywood’s A Christmas Carol. It is based on the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol but with Dolly twist on it. It was a really beautiful show set in the Victorian times and the props and costumes made it all seem so real. What made it even better was that in addition to the cast, you will see a holographic Dolly as the Ghost of Christmas Past. The Ghost of Christmas Present and Future are also holographic presentations.

The rides are a great place to experience some of Dollywood. Below are a few of the rides and attractions at Dollywood.

They have the FireChaser Express is the nation’s first dual launch family coaster – blasting riders forward and backward, ohh how much fun!

Also if you have little children then they would love to go on the Amazing Flying Elephants, Take a seat aboard one of the “elephant” cars–you can even let mom and dad ride along if you want–and hold on as you soar ’round and ’round and up and down as these “elephants” take you on an amazing adventure. I know when my children were small they loved riding on that.

BARNSTORMER, now this is a thrill ride. the Barnstormer features two pendulum arms with seating for 32 riders.
Seated back to back, riders travel progressively higher on each swing of the Barnstormer’s massive arms, reaching a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour and 230 degrees of rotation. At its peak, the Barnstormer reaches a staggering 81 feet in the air!

LUCKY DUCKY is another one for the little one’s. Everyone’s a winner on our Lucky Ducky ride where all the cute “duck” cars travel in a circle of fun. Let mom and dad in on the fun too, because these lucky ducks are sure to entertain the entire family.

Another great coaster is the Mystery Mine. What if there is no light at the end of the tunnel? Find out on Dollywood’s new Mystery Mine® steel coaster where a 1,811-foot track travels through an abandoned coal mine. Uncertain encounters and amazing maneuvers await, including a hair-raising 95-degree, 85-foot vertical drop that plunges into darkness!

Holly Jolly™ Junction is a must see for the whole family. Visit Rudolph’s Holly Jolly™ Junction, a magical area where festive fun awaits your family. Here, meet Rudolph and his friends and create a special Christmas photo souvenir. After meeting the characters, head to Clarice’s kitchen to decorate custom Christmas cookies* and even take part in a few reindeer games! Or step into a giant snow globe featuring Sam the Snowman.

One ride I really wanted to go on was the Dollywood Express, this is fun for the whole family. It is an authentic 110-ton coal-fired steam engine takes you on a breathtaking five-mile journey through the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains where you’ll enjoy pastoral scenery and some of the most beautiful views that nature has to offer. Close your eyes and enjoy a fascinating trip back in time when travel in and out of the mountains of Pigeon Forge relied on trains like the Dollywood Express. We did some so many beautiful Christmas decorations while we rode this.

And when you’re looking to slow things down for the evening, then make sure you watch the Parade of Lights. parade of Lights featuring Christmas floats adorned with brightly colored lights. Holiday characters add to the excitement as the parade makes its way, bringing holiday fun to everyone.
