The following are types of pests that could infest your home:

  1. Ants

Ants are small black or brown creatures that have six legs. They can be found in any part of your home. Ants love all types of food, especially sugary ones. Some ants are known to bite and sting, but most found in homes do not. Working with an ant control service can help prevent these small critters from becoming your housemates. Also, clean your kitchen daily, and never leave food particles and spills on the floor.

  1. Termites

These are brown or black in color with four wings. They resemble ants very much. Termites love to feed on wet wood. They are not known to cause any disease but they can do damage worth thousands of dollars to your house.  Keeping mulch piles and wet wood far from your home is a good preventive measure against termites. If you must have wood around your home, make sure it is totally dry. You can also get more information on how to avoid or remove termites from online sources such as termite removal Sacramento.

  1. Rats and mice

These are grey or black creatures with four legs, they are about a foot long. Rats are generally larger than mice. They are usually found in storage or basement areas in homes. Rats and mice eat all kinds of trash but they also eat clean grains. Rats can carry dangerous infections, so you’re better off keeping them at bay. Seal all holes around doors and windows because this is an entry point for them. Also keep your garbage well covered since this trash is an attraction for rats.

  1. Cockroaches

Everybody hates roaches! They are brown or black, have six legs and antennae. They pretty much each all kinds of food, including cardboard boxes. The saliva from roaches can cause allergic reactions especially in asthmatics. Roaches hate boric acid and therefore it can be used along the perimeter of rooms and at cracks to prevent them from entering.

  1. Bed bugs

Bed bugs have a flat, oval body and are usually brown in color. They basically live around beds and mattresses, basically in the bedroom area. They feed on blood and can actually live for one full year before the next feed. The bite from a bed bug can cause allergies and also causes an itch. Getting rid of bed bugs is very difficult, so it’s easier to prevent them from infesting your house. Some simple oils such as cloves, peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus and others tend to prevent bed bugs from infesting your bedroom and home in general.
