It’s summer time! The season of fresh garden veggies (cucumbers being one of my favorites,) and charcoal grilling meals. But these things are for more than just food or cooking food!
Cucumbers are for more than eating….
They’re wonderful for you face as well. The flesh of cucumbers is mostly water but also contains Vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid, and caffeic acid. Both of which help sooth skin irritations and reduce swelling. Cucumber juice is a fantastic source of silicia that improves your complexion and the health of your skin. It also hydrates it too.
You can use cucumber in your bath, or on your face. It’s great for sunburns, or even itchy, watery, allergy ridden eyes. Sometimes when I’m feeling adventurous, I make up a nice cucumber toner. Peel a cuke, take half of it and chop it up. I put mine in the food processor and add three tablespoons of witch hazel, and two tablespoons of distilled water. I love it. However, I don’t always feel like making this, so instead I turn to a 7th Heaven Cucumber Peel Off Mask.

I love 7th Heaven Masks. One of my favorites for summer time is their Cucumber Peel Off Mask. It combines cukes, lime oil, and pressed flowers. I am enamored by the smell, and how well my face feels after using one. Peel off masks are actually gentler on the skin than a scrub, which is important in the summer when your face is exposed to more sun and other environmental elements. Charcoal is for more than grilling!
Activated Charcoal is useful for treating gas, insect bites, cleaning teeth, and cleansing skin too. I love using 7th Heaven’s Charcoal Masque. I even got my husband into using them too! He won’t let me apply it to his entire face, but he does let me apply it his nose and upper cheeks (his “black head area” as he calls it.) Since he only lets me do part of his face, we can actually share one mask. I apply them to us in the evening and we watch one television until it’s time to wash it off. My face feels so clean and fresh afterwards, and it really does remove a lot of my husband’s black heads too. To learn more, click HERE.
