How To Choose The Best Convertible Car Seat For Your Newborn – Tips Revealed

For new parents and/or car owners, a car seat remains of the most important purchases they’ll have to make. From infant to booster, you certainly have to brace yourself for such purchases. Are you clueless on how to select the best convertible seat for your baby? By choosing the right seat, you’ll be able to enjoy utmost comfort and safety during your drive.

Fret not! The market has plenty of baby and infant seats. Making a choice out of the many can turn out to be quite challenging and confusing. So what should you consider when shopping for the best convertible car seat for small cars 2017?

The following are some of the factors that you should consider:

#1: Have a budget

In terms of prices, convertible car seats run the gamut. You can buy them for as low as $39 and as high as $499.99. Therefore, you should have a budget in order to make an informed decision. Also, keep in mind that most places have coupons or sales.

Therefore, avoid narrowing your search so much. The rule of thumb is to remain within a range, which you’re humbly comfortable with.

#2: How long do you desire your kid to rear face?

You should extensively research the pros and cons of extended rear facing. This is especially true with each new car seat in the market, which is comfortable for the long-term rear facing. That being said, before choosing a seat, you should decide what your plans for rear facing are. This is because different seats bring with them different rear facing capabilities.

If you prefer the rear facing seat for the short term, you can settle for the less expensive seats, which do not rear face to high heights/weights. If you are into the rear facing for the long term, opt for the upper weight and particularly height limits because most kids seem to outgrow height before weight.

#3: Consider your car for installation issues

Do you have a small or big car? For instance, if your car is a small one, the biggest challenge is the fact that you’ll not be able to brace your car seat against either of the front seats because of my airbags. What does that mean? It simply means that you need a smaller car seat or keep your front seats pulled up.

Furthermore, if your car smaller, chances are high that your car will not allow side latch borrowing when it comes to the middle seat position. Consequently, searching for a seat with an amazing LATCH tightening/hook up system shouldn’t be a priority because you have to install a seatbelt anyway.

#4: Research extensively online for car seat information

With your budget, car information and rear facing duration in mind, do a search. Look for sites that have a huge list of recommended car seats. Search for those sites, which have reviewed plenty of other seats. Chances are extremely high that they boast quality information regarding seats, which you might be interested in from a perspective of trained car seat technicians.

#5: Consider the size of the seat

How tall is your car seat? Do you wish to be checking out your back window? The last thing you want is to buy a tall convertible car seat while your car is tiny because it will block your back window. The other important thing to consider is depth of your seat and wideness of the base. The question you should be able to ask yourself is, will you be able to fit passengers or car seats next to it? To get past the step, you might have to pull out a measuring tape.

#6: Is it cleanable?

The ability to easily clean your seat is highly critical. Your kid can smudge food or drinks all over it. That means that you should be able to effortlessly clean the seat you choose. Sadly, some seats bring with them straps which you can’t remove and clean for safety reasons.

Conclusion

There you go. Choosing the best convertible seat for your baby shouldn’t be as challenging as many people claim it to be. By following the above guide, you’ll surely land the best one. That is for sure.

These are great tips. Please note that it really is important to keep your child rear facing for as long as possible.

Studies have shown that this is the best way to prevent serious injury and even the unthinkable. When your child is rear-facing, they are supported by the entire seat in the case of a front-end collision (the most common kind). On the other hand, when they are front-facing, the only thing that supports them is the harness.

So keep that in mind when purchasing your car seat as well.
