Spring has sprung and in typical fashion, many of us start indulging in the big ‘spring clean’ and start looking at decorating our homes. There is something about spring and the symbolic new beginnings that spring brings that makes us want to change, and usually this starts within the home. Many of us do it subconsciously, but we all start feeling the need for change in spring. Budget is irrelevant, whatever your budget you can make little changes within the home for a truly new beginning for spring.
Many of us feel the need to get rid of the old and bring in the new, so whether you indulge in a complete overhaul or a mini makeover, there are so many ways to make your home feel fresh in spring, on a budget:
Overhaul Your Space:
Start by organising wardrobes, decluttering your drawers and sorting out the pile of stuff that seems to have found a home under the bed. Get rid of anything you don’t need and organise your space in a much more efficient manner. Rid you wardrobes of any clothes, shoes and accessories that you no longer use and organise your remaining wardrobe as you see fit. Some people like to organise by colour, others like to organise by workwear and casual wear. Whatever method you choose to adopt will work, just ensure that you remain organised.
As simple as it sounds, removing stains (many of us seem to forget about the little things) is a great way to overhaul your home. Stains on the carpet can be removed with a cheap household cleaner that can be picked up from the supermarket. Stains in the kitchen may be harder to remove, typically those on the dining set. While it may not be savvy to go out and purchase a new table and chairs, it may be worth spending a little money on a tablecloth to hide the unsightly stains. There are a multitude of ways that stains can be removed or hidden, so take stock and make your home beautiful.
Clean Painted Walls:
If your budget won’t stretch to paint, simply clean down your painted walls with a sugar soap solution and lukewarm water. This is a much more cost effective way of freshening up your living space and will make your home feel much more clean and tidy. Once you’ve cleaned down the ways with sugar soap, make sure that you go back over them with clean water so no marks are left behind.
Create a New Theme:
Should you feel like a new change is imminent, then change the colour scheme within your home. This can be done cheaply by simply purchasing a few cushions, throws and decorative accessories. The whole room will feel transformed and new, and you won’t have blown your bank account in the process.
Your home is your castle, and you want to keep it looking as beautiful as ever. A few small handy DIY tips is a sure fire way of making your house look as fresh as ever.
