Dogs vs. cats – it’s the ultimate opinion divider.
It seems like the world is split 50/50 between ‘dog people’ and ‘cat people’. They are the two most popular house pets by some way, yet they are so different. Which pet we prefer is often highly reflective of our own personalities. Here, we try to answer the ultimate question. Which is better?
Dogs are the greatest pets
Dogs aren’t just man’s best friend, they’re everyone’s best friend. They’re the most enthusiastic house pet by a long distance, greeting every single guest like a long-lost relative. It’s so obvious when they’re happy too. You can see the big grin on their face and their tail wagging enthusiastically as they jump on you and give you a big kiss. This enthusiasm is infectious. You can’t be miserable around such a cheerful and lively pet.
It’s tough to feel lonely alongside your pooch. There are hundreds of dog breeds and they are all so unique. From tiny chihuahuas to gigantic german shepherds, owners can pick a pooch that fits their personality. These breeds mate together to make crosses too.
Every breed is so loyal to their owner though. A dog will genuinely listen when its owner speaks to it. It understands when you are sad and will look straight into your eyes and listen.
Whether it’s a game of fetch, tug of war or wrestling, they always want to play with you. You can teach your pal tricks and to be completely obedient. Taking it for walks every day is a great way to get some exercise – and you’ll probably meet loads of other dog lovers as well. There’s no doubt that dogs are the greatest pets.
No way, cats are the greatest pets
Dogs might be adorable, but that doesn’t stop cats from being the best house pets by a country mile. Cats are just as unique as dogs, but they are far more polite and peaceful too. You get all the adorableness of a tiny house pet, without as much of the hard work.
Cat fur is so soft that it’s almost addictive to stroke. It’s so therapeutic stroking a cat and the purring of a tiny kitten has one of the most relaxing noises in the world. As long as you feed them regularly, cats are as close as you can get to independent house pet. They can disappear for hours, strolling around the neighbourhood, saying hello to the neighbours. Who knows what sort of adventures they get up to outside of the house. It would be incredible to find out.
When they’re in the house, they strut around like they own the place, despite being around a foot tall. Their mischievousness knows no bounds. What other pet could get away with climbing all over its owners head and shoulders or hiding in the bookcase. What’s more, if there’s anything that the internet has taught us, it’s that cats are absolutely hilarious.
Which side of the fence do you sit on?
