If you’re like me, it’s nearly impossible to think of a good gift for your husband or father for their birthday. It seems like he always has everything he wants and a gift is certainly welcomed and appreciated, but he doesn’t really get excited about it. For once, you just want to get them something they really want to make them happy. If you’ve been in this predicament before, here are some ideas to get you started. And remember, Father’s Day is only a few short months away, so feel free to take several ideas:
He’s a Geek: If the special man in your life has a soft spot for comic books, Star Trek, and Doctor Who, might I suggest ThinkGeek.com. You can find a lot of pretty cool stuff here, including Game of Thrones vinyl figures, a Doctor Who 7th Doctor Vest, and a Star Wars lightsaber umbrella. No matter what their tastes are, you can probably find something they’ll like here if they are more into Comic-Con than the Super Bowl.
He’s a Gearhead: If your husband, boyfriend, or father is a big fan of cars or trailers, Wired Magazine came up with a pretty decent list that goes into some new gadgets, books and accessories that are perfect for gearheads. I personally really like the dashboard phone holder. If you’re more daring, you could try to buy them a new part for their car or trailer. I bought my dad a new trailer axle here, and he really seemed to like the effort and research I put in it.
He’s a History Buff: If your significant other is a history buff, the easiest route to go here is a new book or documentary that coincides with his interests. If he’s a Civil War buff and doesn’t own the Ken Burns documentary set on it, that’s an easy one. National Geographic came up with some interesting items you might want to consider. The aviator sunglasses could be a fun gift if he’s into the Sixties or he’s a big Mad Men fan.
He’s a Major Sports Fan: If you don’t see your husband or father for most of the year due to sports, there’s a wide variety of gifts to consider. I don’t see him protesting if you got him tickets to his favorite sporting event. In addition, feel free to ask his guy friends to see who his favorite player is. Then you can get him an authentic jersey or autographed card to really give him something he can wear or display in his Man Cave.
Finally, if you’re completely stuck, you can always get him an Amazon gift card, so he can just buy what they want himself. Sometimes it’s okay to admit defeat if you have no idea, and he’ll surely appreciate the gesture. Hopefully, though, the aforementioned things above can give you a decent idea for his next birthday, Father’s Day, or Christmas.
