Busy People Librarian Makes Reading Fun for Kids

For Christmas I gave my grandson a book. It was about a dinosaur. Not really anything special. But it was a book with pictures of things he loved. His Mom and Dad read it to him a few times. He can now read it all by himself page by page. He has memorized it because he loves it so much. I love books too and I am thrilled that he likes books so much. Now I am planning to fill his book shelves with good meaningful books so he can learn and grow. So in that vein we have been talking about visiting the local library. He is excited about it and next time I am off we are going. He already gets on the book mobile when it comes to his preschool. I heard all about it last weekend. He told me about story time at school too. He loves it when the teacher reads to his whole class. I do too.

I gave him this book called Busy People Librarian. Its a large book with clear vibrant pictures of the library and all the things contained in a library.

As we read through the book we talked about all the things inside a library. The carts with books loaded on them, the computers, the bookshelves full of books. Last but not least we talked about the Librarian. My grandson said she makes you be quiet. I agree. I told him people like quiet when they read or study and someday he would be big and he would be studying in a school library or campus library. He was so happy about that.

This book was 24 pages and authored by Lucy M. George. It;s published by QED and retails for $14.95. Target ages 4-7. Available at Amazon or any bookstore.

Im sure the child in your life will love this book as much as we did. Buy one for your loved one and let them read to you. Spend time with those little ones because they grow up so fast.

Introducing children to books at a young age is the best thing one can do to instill a love for books. So many things today, electronics, tv, etc, all rely upon instant gratification. With a book, a child can read at his/her own pace, and appreciate each part as well as the art and illustrations. We practically grew up in a library, so I really love it when I see a kid just "love" books also! Sounds like a good one, I might have to check it out for my grand-nephew :)
