Brides To Be Opt For Sophisticated Hen Weekends Over Tacky Parties

A study conducted by a UK based holiday company has found that a massive 85% of brides to be and their hen parties would now prefer to have a classy hen weekend over a tacky one. So out are the novelty veils and condoms and in is afternoon tea and crafting. This is because brides to be would rather be spending quality time with family and friends and doing something productive or being pampered.

Conducting the study was Blue Chip Holidays, who asked brides to be, their hens what they thought about hen parties or weekends away. The company specializes in 4 and 5-star cottages, apartments and lodges in the UK and offer services to hen parties such as personal chef’s spa treatments at the accommodation and activities for guests as extras to make a stay special. After seeing an up take in these services they decided to see if it was because brides are no longer wanting to get drunk or be embarrassed.

They asked those taking part in the survey, why they wanted something more sophisticated and they found:

  1. To spend quality time with family and friends – 75%
  2. Did not want to get very drunk – 56%
  3. Be pampered – 31%
  4. Do something productive – 26%
  5. Not to be embarrassed – 18%

Hen weekends are a great opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends, taking time to do a fun activity or just be pampered seem to be the new norm now for brides and their hens. It’s also interesting that 76% of brides would be happy to have a hen weekend like this arranged as a surprise ad we are sure grooms to be would probably feel the same!

The study also looked into what people would like to spend on this sort of experience, they found:

  • Spend between £100 and £300 for a stay of one night with activities included – 57%
  • Spend between £300 and £500 for a long weekend away, with activities included – 33%
  • Spend more than £500 for up to 5 days away and activities – 10%
