Breathe In, Breathe Out: Asthma Is Not A Fatality

Asthma has puzzled and confused physicians and doctors from the time of Hippocrates until today. While some genetic and non-genetic factors are known, the triggers for asthma remain a mystery, and especially the reasons why more and more healthy adults begin to experience asthma attacks. In truth, if asthma is in your family, then you can somehow start with a lucky advantage: At least, you know that you are potentially at risk about genetic factors. However, for many individuals, asthma can appear as a surprise with no warning at all. To avoid any issue, you should make sure that you are keeping any external trigger at bay. Here’s how to protect yourself from a very modern health hazard that is touching a large portion of the population.

Check The Quality Of Air

The most common environmental trigger that can increase the risk of developing asthma or other respiratory discomfort is the presence of mold in your surroundings. Black mold and black mold spores especially, represent a high health hazard as this can not only trigger allergic reactions but also damage the immune system. As a result, it is important to monitor the quality of air in your house and to target the air humidity. Air humidity can be increased by chronic water leakage that can go unnoticed if it happens in isolated areas of the house, or if it continuously infiltrates the structure of the house. You will rapidly identify remote areas of your house that make the ideal terrain for mold growth, such as the attic under a leaky roof or the small spaces like a crawlspace or the basement. You should control the air humidity in the house to prevent mold in your crawlspace and elsewhere for instance, or the development of mold into your house system and structure.

Keep Ahead Of Your Cleaning Task

Dust, dead skin cells and hair can provide the perfect terrain for allergies to develop. Additionally, dirty dishes or shower is the ideal home for bacterial growth. In short, your house is not as safe as you think it is. Postponing cleaning, because nobody has time for that or because you don’t like it anyway, is never a good plan. Look for effective cleaning gears that can save you time and make the chore a little less unpleasant. In the end, you are right: Nobody likes cleaning. But everybody has to: A clean house maintains your health strong.

Avoid Respiratory Infections

You may not think about it, but a weak immune system can facilitate the development of asthma. Indeed, if you regularly fall victim of the winter cold, or if you are a heavy smoker, it is likely that your respiratory system will gradually become weaker and more likely to develop respiratory discomfort. Doctors recommend a vitamin-rich diet and regular exercise to stay strong and fight respiratory troubles.

Learn To Relax

Last but not least, you need to accept that stress is a part of your day-to-day life. Things don’t always work out the way they should; meetings are cancelled, people argue, etc. While you don’t need to embrace stress, you should understand how to recognize it to be in a position to fight it. Indeed, stress is a strong asthma enabler, with anxiety, panic attacks and fatigue playing an important role. Learning to relax and control your stress levels will also strengthen your immune system and keep any further complication away!
