Summer Entertaining: American Girl Parties Cookbook

Summer Cooking: American Girl Parties Cookbook

One thing my daughter and I want to do this summer is try new recipes.  We both like to bake, and I’m always looking for recipes for her to make.  She hates doing dishes, but the only way she will get out of it is to cook.  So I was pretty excited to share the American Girl Parties: Delicious recipes for holidays & fun occasions cookbook (By American Girl and Williams-Sonoma) with her! She already has several recipes planned out and let me tell you I’m looking forward to our July 4th picnic.

We throw a lot of parties during the summer season so, with eight party themes and forty delicious recipes, there’s enough inspiration and party-worthy dishes to make.  She picked a drink recipe to make for me on Mother’s Day.  She surprised me with Hibiscus/Honey/Mint Ice Tea.

Flower & Fruit Iced Tea:

  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 3 Hibiscus tea bags
  • 1 tablespoon of honey (or more depending on taste)
  • 3-4 slices of ginger
  • 2 cups of apple juice
  • Ice
  • Mint Sprigs

Add water to a small saucepan, Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Turn off the heat and add the tea bags, honey, ginger (if using). Remove and discard the tea bags and ginger. Pour the tea into a glass pitcher then stir in apple juice. Make sure to taste the tea and add more honey if needed. Add ice to individual glasses, pour in the tea, garnish each glass with a mint sprig then serve!

I loved my ICE TEA!
