Every weekend my husband and I try to have a date night . We recently found a really good Italian restaurant here in South Carolina.. We are originally from New Jersey, where Italian restaurants are plenty. Me being Italian, I find it very hard to find real good restaurants. We happened upon this restaurant one day while we were taking an afternoon drive.
The owner of the restaurant is wonderful. He came to our table and introduced himself. We talked for a bit and this is when I found out the history behind Alodia’s. The family is originally from Manhattan, NY they owned a restaurant in Little Italy back in the 1950’s. The family then migrated to Chicago, where they opened two more restaurants. Adam told us how he grew up in the kitchens of his families restaurants and learned how to cook authentic Italian food. Adam the migrated down here to South Carolina, where he opened up Alodia’s, named after his great-grandmother.
My husband and I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, and while we were eating Adam came over and asked us if we would like to try one of his grand mothers recipes, BowTie Gratinata, “Sauteed shrimp and Pancetta with Bowtie pasta covered in a creamy gratinata sauce. Topped with Parmesan cheese and paprika. that dish was out of the world. My husband is not a huge pasta eater, but when Adam brought over the plate, my husband couldn’t stop eating it. Now when we go to Alodia’s, that is what we both eat.
So if your ever in Columbia, SC and your looking for a Great Italian Resturant then visit Alodia’s!
