Have you spent the last couple of years saving for the perfect family holiday? Do you want to go somewhere that will leave a lasting impression on every single member of your family? Then you definitely want to spend the next ten minutes reading through all the points I’m going to make in the remainder of this post. You see; Australia is one of the most amazing countries in the world, and as you will see throughout the course of this article, there are some very good reasons for that. In fact, thousands upon thousands of British and American people visit the land down under every single year, so this should highlight what I’m saying. Personally, I’ve traveled here five times in my life, and each has been better and more exciting than the one before.
1. The Weather Is Great
While this place does obviously experience bad weather from time to time, for the most part, it’s always sunny and warm. Why do you think so many people choose to visit this destination over the Christmas and New Year periods? There’s certainly no snow to be seen, and this is often one of the hottest times of the year. In truth, you’re more likely to encounter forest fires from the scorching heat than you are to witness rain or cold spells.
2. The People Are Friendly
Contrary to popular belief, the Australian people are not as boring as western governments and media outlets would like us to believe. Sure, the culture here is very laid back, and lots of people do host barbeques on a weekly basis, but wouldn’t you do the same in such an idyllic paradise? From my own experience, I can tell you honestly that everyone I’ve ever met in Australia has been nothing but polite. In fact, a lot of them seem very happy you’ve chosen their country above the alternatives.
3. The Sights Are To Die For
There are some really cool things to see in Australia, not least Ayers Rock, the Sydney Opera House and The Great Barrier Reef. So, no matter what your own personal tastes may be, you’re always certain to find something to keep you occupied. You don’t even have to be a strong swimmer to check out the Reef, as it’s so large it can be viewed from the air on an inexpensive helicopter ride. Just make sure you plan ahead, and make a list of things you want to do, as lots of the attractions are spread out over a large distance, so you may have to spend some time working on logistics.
4. The Location Is Perfect For Kids
Australia has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, and this is probably because people are so happy living here. While there is obviously a legal system, and many people do end up in jail, as a percentage of the population, the amount is far less than you might imagine. This makes the country a perfect place to take children, as you know for certain they will be safe. Even so, you’ll need to take a lot of sun cream along for the little ones.
5. The Country Is Prime Relocation Territory
You probably don’t have any desire to move abroad at the moment, but if you did, Australia would be the first place I recommend. Over the years, thousands upon thousands of British people have moved here, and so this should give you some comfort in the knowledge that it’s incredibly suitable for families. Also, it’s not that difficult to be accepted, so long as you have a desirable skill or lots of cash in the bank. There are many companies that specialist in the building of budget homes for newcomers too, so you should probably check out these designs if you want to wet your appetite.
6. The Beer Is Fantastic
I don’t honestly know if beer just tastes better in Australia because of the scorching heat or not, but every time I visit the country, it seems like the first thing I want to do is neck a few pints of the amber nectar. Although you might think the larger know as “Fosters” is brewed here though, you’d be wrong. Just take a look on the back of a can in your local supermarket. It gets brewed in the UK. No matter, there are some fantastic authentic beers available, and I wholeheartedly recommend you try them all. Make sure the kids are in bed first though, as they’re very moorish.
7. The Air Is Clean
If you live in a major UK or US city, you’re constantly breathing far more dangerous fumes than your body can safely handle. This is something that could well affect you negatively in later life, and so it should be avoided. Luckily. Australia is such a vast country that you’re never away from fresh, clean air. Not only will this improve your health, but it will also give you more energy and make you feel happier. When you look at rates of depression in the UK and compare them to countries with sun and a nice climate like Australia, it becomes obvious that clean air and good weather have a significant impact on mental health.
8. The Outback Will Blow Your Mind
Aboriginal people have been living in the Australian outback for thousands of years, but the vast area of nothingness still remains much the same today. While you do need to be careful when driving out into the wilderness, so long as you have a full petrol can on board, and you take along a satellite phone with a booster signal feature, you should be okay. At the end of the day, you can pay local providers for a guided tour if you want, but that’s not as good as going it alone.
After having read through those 8 reasons, you should now have a much better understanding of exactly why Australia is one of the best, and most alluring countries in the world.
I hope you have an amazing time Don’t forget to send me a postcard!
