7 Ideas For Decorating Your Small Bathroom

7 Ideas for decorating your small bathroom

When it comes to home décor, bathrooms are often overlooked. Chances are you’ve spent a lot more time and money styling your other spaces, but the bathroom is the one room in your house that everyone is bound to visit.

Even if it’s small, you still have space to get creative. With the right combination of color, accessories and strategic storage, you can give even the tiniest bathroom a facelift. Ready to get started yet? Here are seven tips to help you out:

1.Create your color scheme

In a small bathroom, choose light shades for the walls and floor to create the illusion of space, but don’t fall into the trap of making it bland or monotone. Select one or two items in a bold color or print, like a shower curtain or a bath mat.

2.Add overhead shelving

Installing shelves high up on the walls, and even above the door, gives you instant storage that doesn’t dominate the room. This is a great place to keep towels, or even stock up on toilet roll.

3.Clear away clutter

Nothing is worse for a small space than clutter. Invest in baskets for bigger items, and mason jars for smaller ones, and uses these to tidy away all the bits and pieces piling up on the windowsill.

4.Put a storage rail in your shower

Buy a second curtain rail, place it in your shower, and add a few S hooks. Now, you can hang up baskets or a shower caddy instead of letting your product spill all over the floor.

5.Choose furniture with built-in storage

Bulky free-standing storage units aren’t going to work in a small space. A mirror-fronted cabinet is a good dual-purpose investment, or invest in an under-sink unit if you don’t have one already.

6.Get the lighting right

As with any room, bathroom lighting can be a deal breaker. If you have a window that already provides natural light, avoid covering it up with dark or bold curtains – mesh netting is a good alternative. As well as an overhead light, be sure to install lower lever lighting around the sink and mirror for a more pleasant effect.

7.Hang anything you can’t stow away

Hooks on the back of the door are an essential in any bathroom, but you could also try a towel rack attachment for your radiator, or even a hanging toilet roll holder.
