However, as time went on, people were interested to know what their lives had in store for them. Tarot Cards
These colourful cards have been used since the 15th century. Just like with regular cards, a Tarot deck is split into different suits that are further split into number and picture cards. Crystal Balls
Often used by a gypsy in movies, these clear balls are also known as orbuculums. The Celts are the first people known to have used these balls. The user looks into the ball and is said to be able to see something that will occur in the future. This type of soothsaying was particularly popular during the Victorian times. Many people who believe in crystal balls claim they mist up before showing a vision. If you want to see one of the oldest crystal balls in the world, visit the Royal Sceptre in Scotland. There you’ll find a ball said to belong to some Celtic Druids.
Psychics
Psychics, also known as mediums, are fortune-tellers who communicate with the dead. They are rarely used to tell people’s futures, though. More often than not, people will visit a psychic to try and get in touch with dead relatives or friends. Psychics claim to contact the other side in various ways. One way they do this is in a seance. This involves the psychic sitting in a circle with those wishing to speak to spirits. They then appear to communicate with the group by moving objects. The best psychics claim that they can go into trances so the spirits can communicate through them directly. Psychics are also closely associated with Ouija boards.
Reading Tea Leaves
Once you’ve finished your cup of tea, don’t throw away the tea leaves! You can use them to predict your future. Tasseography is the art of reading tea leaves, which many people believe can hold signs of the future. People in Europe have been doing this since the Middle Ages, but in China, this probably began even earlier. You can read in any cup you like but, if you’d prefer, you can also buy specific types of cups that can help you figure out certain parts of your future.
